Bio:Ferrand Duval in a Parisian garden.

Name: Ferrand Duval
Age: 37
Nationality: Lower Canadian

Allegiance and why: Neutral. It's important in his role as a journalist that he keeps impartial if only so he can't be accused of bias (or at least have the accusations upheld) by either side. Besides, it isn't as if this is his home or country at stake (not any longer).

Social Status and/or Occupation: He is a reporter for the Quebec Gazette, North America's oldest newspaper, and his current assignment is to keep those back home updated on the interesting happenings in the old country. He has a number of connections in amongst the court and those in the Revolutionaries and so wouldn't be thought out of place in either group - he plays with both equally well.

Brief physical description of your character: Ferrand was quite handsome in his heyday, about 25 years ago now, but he no longer has the boyish looks to match his charm. Instead he has rather a dismissable face now and he's really quite thankful for it as being unmemorable to someone's eye can be quite a blessing if you've left them on not-quite-good terms. His sandy hair makes it difficult to see the grey hairs in it (he's unusual because even at the most extravagant parties he won't wear a wig - he has a distinct distaste for them) and he has brown eyes that are usually alive with amusement and interest in whatever happens to be in front of him at that moment in time. He is, even now, all arms and elbows and knows quite well how to use the appearance of being clumsier than you are (along with a well-placed smile) to disarm people and get them to relax more around you than they might otherwise have done. His dress is not particularly extravagant as a journalist's wage is not spectacular and he still sends monies home to his sister and cousins, however, it is of a good enough state that he can still attend the parties of those of the First Estate if need be and not look too out of place.

Brief description of your characters history, including family:
Ferrand Duval was born in the municipality of Pointe-du-lac on the St Laurence rivers in 1755. His father died while he was quite young so his mother took him and his younger sister, Emmeline, to live with her brother's family on their farm outside of Trois-Rivieres. Bored with farm work, and hoping to do something more with his life, Ferrand set out at the age of 17 to go make his fortune. Instead he ended up working as a copy boy for the Quebec Gazette after his quick tongue and affable nature endeared him to one of the journalists already working there. He quite quickly rose past that role though as he had a good eye for a story and a neat turn of phrase in writing as well as his speech. Eventually he was one of a few reporters sent to France in 1983 to cover the Treaty of Paris, a vital matter in the politics of his country, and he has stayed there ever since as a European correspondent of sorts for the newspaper. This whole Revolution business is a fantastic scoop for him in his eyes and he is trying to get as much information down about it as possible.

Ferrand Duval is an entirely fictional creation made up by [info]loopily for the RPG [info]toujoursliberer based on the French Revolution which isn't at all fictional. Ferrand Duval plays [info]loopily in real life and actually has nothing to do with Stephen Deville whose photo credit he uses. He'd also like to point out that this is all for entertainment purposes, his own specifically, and no profit is being made.
